The therapist-client relationship is a beautiful thing, and when it’s a good fit, amazing progress can follow! Tandem Strength & Balance is client-centered and we always want to make sure we are meeting your needs. Check out our strengths below to see if you may be a good match with us:
Seeking In-Home Workouts:
The act of getting to a gym may lead to some quitting a workout routine before it even begins. Additionally for those that struggle to get around or out of the house, getting to a gym is out of the question. Tandem Strength & Balance brings all equipment to you, and uses the space within your home to provide a full body workout. Working out in the home can allow you to focus on the daily tasks and movements that are most challenging and provide realistic practice and problem solving, something that would be very challenging in a typical clinic setting.
Looking for variety and challenge:
Doing the same old work out won’t get the results you are looking for. In order to make a meaningful change, workout intensity should be challenging to promote adaptation in our body’s systems resulting in increased strength and improved function. Our physical therapists knowingly and intentionally challenge our clients in a safe and appropriate manner to ensure tolerance, as no two clients have the same response. Some examples of changing workout intensity may include changing weights/resistance, sets/reps, speed, balance surface, or adding a multitasking challenge to increase cognitive demand. Additionally, our physical therapists have several different types of equipment in order to keep sessions interesting and fun!
Scheduling with a consistent therapist:
At some companies therapists may rotate or change throughout the plan of care which prevents getting to know the client beyond surface level. With a new therapist each time, they would need to spend time familiarizing with the client and situation each time. At Tandem Strength & Balance we match the client with a regular and consistent physical therapist. With a familiar and consistent physical therapist we can get right to work within a session, knowing how to motivate, and build on prior sessions to further challenge and make progress towards goals each time. Additionally, a familiar physical therapist will know your “normal” state and readily be able to tell when issues may need further care or addressing.
Communication, communication, communication:
As part of the care team, your physical therapist will communicate with you every session on how your exercises build towards your goals. Additionally, your physical therapist will reach out via text, call, or email to desired family members or other caretakers to problem-solve issues or challenges that may arise. Other times your physical therapist may want to share (or brag!) about progress made or goals accomplished. Sharing feedback with your therapist will also help them provide better and more meaningful care, always speak up!
A physical therapist that will be with you for the long haul:
Other home care physical therapy companies typically stay involved with clients for weeks to months before discharging services. When these physical therapy services end, any progress that was made can slow or even reverse due to lack of accountability. Tandem Strength & Balance believes that the best progress can happen within a long-term committed relationship. Since we are not bound by insurance restrictions, our therapists and their expertise will support you as long as you need us. Some of our longest clients have been working with us for years and continue to see value in the work we do!
